“I work with executives and managers who want to
embrace a new kind of leadership.”
People
sometimes ask me what makes me a coach. It is a great
question. The easy answer is that I have been accredited
through advanced training with The Coaches Training
Institute (one of the premier coaching schools,
accredited by the International Coach Federation), I
have a B.A. in psychology, and tons of work experience.
The real answer is that my work as a coach is a
reflection of my passion and my purpose. When I left the
corporate world of a tough union environment in 1995, I
knew that I would be working within corporations as some
sort of facilitator. At that time, I had not heard of
coaching and could not envision the delight of working
with dynamic, successful people who are looking for
‘more’ and ‘less’ in their lives and from their careers.
I work with
executives and managers who want to embrace a new kind
of leadership. The Center for Creative Leadership
www.CCLCommerce/pdf/research/ defines old-style
leadership as transactional; that is, leadership
characterized by “mutually beneficial exchanges between
parties to optimize mutual benefit, including the
accomplishment of necessary organizational tasks.”
These exchanges tend to produce predictable and rather
short-lived outcomes. Effective leadership of the
future will be more transformational; that is,
touching deeper values and a higher purpose, leading to
“higher levels of follower commitment and more enduring
change.” This model complements the Aegis Coaching
model.
As a coach, it is
an honour and privilege for me to work with clients who
are willing to enter a relationship designed to help
them access their own creativity and enhance their
leadership capacity by impacting corporate culture … one
relationship at a time. As a coach, I find that
leadership solutions can be accessed by asking just the
right question.
Coaching is the
tool that helps leaders enhance their leadership
capacity by connecting them with what’s really important
and, then, restoring their ability to act in accordance
with their values. The results can be renewed
commitment to being their best, increased energy for
doing what needs to be done, more confidence in the
choices they’re making, better relationships … thus,
transformational leadership. The bottom-line
return-on-investment results follow almost naturally.
I
work with individuals, deliver workshops, and speak to
groups, helping them make the connection between what
they do and who they are ... unleashing real leadership
from the inside out.
